It has been about 5 weeks since the last update; but until today, there was really not much to report. We had continued to send requested information, and the insurance company had continued to confirm receipt of same.
This afternoon (Monday, September 16) I had a long conversation with our public adjuster, Pat Garrett. Pat had gotten a call today from the insurance company Head Adjuster to discuss the status of our claim. After a general discussion of our claim, the Head Adjuster advised Pat that we should expect a response in about 4 weeks. The firm that the insurance company has employed to settle the claim is in Chicago, and Pat is planning to go to their offices for discussion/negotiation as soon as we have that response.
To rush to a claim settlement is unwise; so we will review their response, evaluate our options, and look for a settlement that is in the best interest of the Moonspinner.
Meanwhile, on August 23, the Board approved the proposal from Mott-MacDonald to handle the specifications, bidding, and project inspection for the roof replacement project on buildings A, B, and C. That work is now ongoing with bids expected to go out in October.
And slightly off-subject, the Annual Homeowners Meeting was a success – the largest attendance I ever remember from past meetings. I counted 86 persons in attendance. All comments to me were positive, except that we apparently needed a sound system – remember for next year. And special thanks to Alisa Collins and the Communications Committee for the Open House program on Saturday afternoon, and the homeowners dinner on Saturday evening – both an absolute success !!!
That’s all I have for now. Thanks for listening.
