Update | June 15, 2020

Here are the developments since my last note on May 11th.

The beaches have generally reopened, and I am happy to say that our General Manager, Jackie Wysong, and her staff are doing a great job handling the Moonspinner rentals in a safe fashion.


The pool house restrooms are now OPEN! The renovation lacks just a few items, installation of benches, and some artwork to round out the project. Photos from the contractor are below. Thanks to Jackie Wysong, Debbi Jennings, and John Craig for making this happen.


We are taking advantage of the CARES Act, which included a provision for a Payroll Protection Program (PPP) whereby small businesses can apply for an SBA loan, and that loan can be forgiven if the qualifications are met. We are continuing to operate on funds from the CARES Act/PPP loan, with the expectation that the loan will be forgiven, as long as we play within the rules.


The insurance company has sent another letter requesting more information, and we nearly have it together to send it to them in answer to this request. Last week we filed a Civil Remedies Notice with the State of Florida. It has been more than a year since we filed our claim, and this is the next step in advising the State of Florida that the insurance company is not acting in good faith to settle our claim. The company has 60 days to respond to this Notice, and the expectation is that their response will move the process toward a settlement.


The work is still ongoing to finalize the roof project, which we expect to begin in October. The project will likely be presented to the Board in August for financial approval, as well as to establish some policies that we will need in place to go forward.


We finally have the proposal from Comcast for rewiring the buildings (which would allow high definition TV and faster internet) and the ongoing cable TV service. The contract is under review, and the Board will discuss at the August meeting. The current expectation is that, if approved, it will be a late fall or early winter project.


The scheduled May 15, 2020 Board meeting was canceled. We are making plans for the August Committee, Board, and Annual Homeowners meetings. (Reminder, there will NOT be social activities due to COVID-19. We will try to reschedule those in 2021.) There is information below this message to request that you 'vote' your plans.
