Update from Our General Manager

Amidst these trying times, I hope you are all staying safe and well. I know you have questions regarding the current situation. I hope this update will provide some answers. I want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to keep our staff and owners safe. The Moonspinner staff and Americlean have been taking steps to reduce the spread of germs.

  • We have limited the occupancy to the pool area and hot tub to allow for social distancing. We have reduced the number of pool chairs, so those who choose to use them can spread them out at a safe distance.

  • The gym has remained close for the time being and will stay this way until Florida is ahead of the curve.

  • Maintenance has been responsible for disinfecting the elevators, stairwells, walkways, doorknobs, pool chairs, their work areas, and other frequently touched areas.

  • Security is screening guests as they enter to find out where they are coming from and are checking for any signs of illness. Security is also disinfecting all equipment used by guests upon the return of the item, so it is ready for the next person.

  • The front office staff is disinfecting keys, pens, counters, light switches, doorknobs, computers, and other frequently touched areas to prevent the spread of germs. We are currently allowing only one guest into the office at a time and have placed plexiglass on the counter so that check-ins can be completed with little risk of exposure. Cash and card transactions upon arrival have also been eliminated, which will reduce the amount of time a guest will be in the office and remove the risks involved from the exchange of money/cards.

  • Americlean is disinfecting all frequently touched areas when they are assigned to clean the rooms such as the counters, hard surfaces, buttons, light switches, tv remotes, any handles, and knobs. Americlean is also offering a fogger disinfectant service for owners who wants to take this extra step in disinfecting their unit. The process takes roughly 2-3 hours, and it is what hospitals use to clean. The cost varies by bedrooms size, a two-bedroom/townhome will cost $65.00, and 3-bedroom units will cost $70.00. If you would like to take advantage of this service, contact me and I will arrange it for you.

The beaches have reopened with the limited hours of 6:00 – 9:00 AM and 5:00 – 8:00 PM. There is a discussion that the beaches will open with no limitations very soon. Vacation Rentals have been banned for the entire month of April. On April 30th, we will get word on whether or not we can accept any reservations for the beginning of May. The occupancy rate of May is sitting at 38%, and the rate for June is sitting at 65%. I expect both to go up once the beaches fully reopen, and the vacation ban is lifted.

For any loss of rentals due to COVID-19, I will provide each rental unit with a list of cancellations from March 1st through May 31st so that if your policy covers the loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you will have the proper documentation to provide them. The information will be sent to you in June so that all data will be compiled onto one document. On the bright side of this pandemic, the “downtime” has allowed us to fully evaluate the property and focus on what needs to be improved. So far, the office has been repainted, the parking lot lines have been repainted, we have taken the time to evaluate signage, repaired the sundeck, the unit doors have been repainted, and we have cleared out all of the storage closets. There are a few other items on our list that we will be getting done as well.
