Hurricane Michael Update

On Tuesday, November 20, the Moonspinner Board held a special meeting to consider the best way to handle the Hurricane Michael insurance claim.

The conclusion of the discussion was that the claim would best be handled by a public insurance adjuster and that a suitable company should be hired.

This is unquestionably in the best interest of the Moonspinner HOA.

Bob Reeves made the recommendation to hire Pat Garrett of North American Insurance Consultants (NAIC). NAIC will put together a comprehensive claim for damages in 45 to 60 days, and present it to the insurance company - who will have 60 days to respond to the claim.

The cost of NAIC will be 10% of funds paid by the insurance company. This is the standard compensation in the industry. Bob Reeves made a motion to proceed with hiring NAIC, seconded by Debbi Jennings, and the motion passed unanimously.

The NAIC contract has been sent to the Moonspinner attorney for final review before signing. It is expected that the contract will be signed early in the week of November 26, and NAIC will start immediately.
